They would never do that because the argument would be the poor little schools dont have any one that is competetive enough to make it. People believe it or not it is the coaching. I could tell you a little story of a little unknown freshmen with a couple of yrs experience and some real coaching shocked a whole region and the favorite to win state in the 4a. But I wont. A lot of the coaches need to have more pride. If I was looking for a coach I would want someone like Carter from Damonte, Mitch from Fallon, The coaches from Cimm, or Mohave, Carson city. Im sure there are others. The reason no one really wants to hold the coaches accountable are because they really dont want to be held accountable themselves. As a parent if the coaches cant do it and I couldnt do it, then I would find someone that could.

Wow, not dedicated or can not coach, dont know which is worse. Glad to have some of these coaches around though - there may be a few less teams without them. And I do not believe that small schools are worried about wrestling big schools - as a matter of fact, who was it that ended super-state?

You ARE lucky! People can say what they want about Carter, it would not hurt my feelings to have him in my sons corner! The DR entire team has always been a real boost for my son, and welcomed him on trips and in the room when he is from a different school. Thanks DR!

I think Kevin Carter is color blind when it comes to school colors in the practice room.

ooldad "The reason nothing changes is because they know every 4 years there will be new kids with new families coming in and just when they are fed up, its over."
How very very true.

One little detail about state that has not been discussed - the (supposedly certified) scales. I think it is inappropriate to have two scales nearly a pound different at the weigh-ins for the State Championships. It is one thing to have a .1 discrepancy, but nearly a pound. Some said it was a .8 difference, I saw a pound.

I agree, how can certified scales be that far off. We had to adjust our lineup at our first dual( which was a league championship deciding dual) because their scale was 0.6 heavier than our "certified scale"...whether it cost us the dual is hard to tell, but the mental damage was done before the dual was decided on the mat. If someone can shed the light on how scales are "certified" I for one would like to know. The "State" scales were a total joke....up to a 3 pound difference from our "ceritied" scale!!

all they do to certify is to put a specific amount of weight on the scale and make sure that it reads the correct amount. Basically this only certifies the scale at that weight and it could still be off at other weights.
