A good friend of mine in Reno has an 8th grade son who has wrestled middle school as a 7th grader and went to a week long camp in Reno this summer. They are looking for some coaching help in the Reno area. Any suggestions? The very best thing to do is get him involved in a youth club. There are many quality groups in Reno. Once involved at that level his talent and or work ethic will get him noticed by the many quality coaches around the area. Middle school wrestling is fine but limited budgets and short seasons simply limit the learning that an athlete is going to accomplish at that age. By joining a club he will be exposed to the finest tournaments an athlete that age can possibly compete in. He basically has one year before high school begins but five years of competitive wrestling to take advantage of if he is willing to work hard. I won't kid you, youth wrestling is NOT easy but the experienced gained is second to none for wrestling.
