Weight-lifting equipment was saved for donation and a few trees avoided the wrecking ball as crews prepared for demolition of the former Sparks Outlet Mall. Years of neglect and vandalism have left the abandoned building in ruins.
Any club, school or other organization that could use the weight-lifting equipment may contact Dave Claflin at 816-876-2547. Claflin is Vice President of Marketing for RED Development, LLC.
Seven spruce, pine and crabapple trees will be given new homes said Jeff Claypool, owner of Oakcrest Landscaping and Irrigation. Claypool said the trees should be healthy enough to survive the ordeal.
Demolition of the old mall is expected to start early today (Wednesday) said Claflin. The project will make way for the new Legends at the Sparks Marina shopping center already under construction by Q&D Construction and RED Development.
