Hey Alumni can this be right? Mojave has drop most of their wrestlers a weight class just before zone with none of them certifying at flat weight. From what I heard they claim that their kids made flat weight at some tournament in calif. which is most unlikely seeing that most tournaments will give the kids and extra pound or two. I also thought that wrestlers had to do their certifying in Nevada. The Sunset tournament director is not taking a stand on this yet. Personally I feel that if they have not certified properly they should not be allowed to wrestle. It's total not fair to all the other kids that have done so.

Personally I feel that if they have not certified properly they should not be allowed to wrestle. It's total not fair to all the other kids that have done so. This is the MAJOR flaw in the system! As long as "scratch" has been entered into the teams competition weigh in form on the NWCA site then the NIAA considers them to have yes made scratch. 1. No sooner than the day before competition a team representative logs into NWCA site for that team. 2. They enter competitors who will be wrestling in that event onto an official weigh in form. This form will show the Tourney Director the competitor, their lowest eligible weight for that day and then the weigh in official will record the actual weight on a blank line. 3. Great system so far. 4. Now for this to really work I feel that the officials or Tourney should take that form and go back to NWCA and enter the actual weight. 5. What does happen is that the form is handed back to the team and the team enters the actual weights assuming that Every weight will be entered exactly as weighed in? ? 6. See the problem? 7. To me all coaches should at the very least be required to keep the original weigh in form for verification. 8. And California doesn't even pay attention to the form. They are still doing hand written weigh ins, weights on the arm etc. If Mojave truly made scratch then they still must have entered those weights on the NWCA site so the NIAA can access them. If they did not enter them then they must have entered the competition results for that tourney showing the kids as having competed at that weight. No weigh In form No data on NWCA No competition record on NWCA = Did not make scratch and if they want to compete at the declared weight then make scratch yesterday. Very simple...I sure Hope they are being held to this!

I have 11 e-mails this morning questioning Mojave and whether their wrestlers ever made scratch. I sure hope the NIAA knows what they are doing and this regions competition isn't thrown out. If scratch was is question yesterday then they should have been required to make scratch yesterday!

From my understanding, all the wrestlers that have dropped made scratch on the initial day of competition for regionals.

The tournament director told me that the weights were entered into the system and that they had actual signed copies of the weighin sheets from those tournaments showing that they did make scratch weight. I don't know how much more legit it can get.
