Is there anyone out there serious about putting together a Junior National Team? Not the system we have now but a team that meets, trains, and stays together for at least a week prior to departing to Fargo. It can be done. Rent dorm rooms from a university---stay with host families----3 practices a day---Reno or Las Vegas----field a full team----state association funding----travel together----any other ideas? ? We need to start looking for private sponsors soon if we want this to materialize.

Thank you for raising this important issue. Growing up in California I was on a number of Junior National Teams myself. Won a couple of back to back national titles actually. Those who qualified for our Jr. National team did in fact live, and train together at Ca. State Fullerton for two weeks prior to departing, as a team, to the Junior Nationals, which were held at the university of Northern Iowa back then. Each wrestler did have to pay for airfare, food & lodging, of course, but it was always a fair deal, and the experience, of course, was invaluable. Since coming to Nevada and becoming involved with the local wrestling scene here, I have always wondered why this is not the case here? It has always seemed that the "Nevada Team" is very disjointed and lacks cohesiveness. If you are interested in organizing an effort in this direction, please let me know how I can help. I would be very interested in seeing Nevada Wrestling take that very important next step.
regards, T. Guerra
