Carson wins eight matches by pin in its final dual at home Appeal Staff Report January 25, 2007
The Carson High wrestling team went out with a bang on Wednesday in its home finale, rolling past Reno High 55-21.
Carson won 10 of the 12 matches wrestled, including eight by pin. The Senators forfeited matches at 189 and 215 pounds.
Nick Schlager (103), Owen Craugh (112), Todd Banko (119), Robbie Bozin (125), Kyle Banko (135), Adam Carmazzi (140), Aaron Jolcover (145) and Max Schadeck (heavyweight) all won by pin. Travis Lamborn also won by major decision 10-2 at 160 and Martin Azzam won 7-3 at 152.
"That's ovbiously the way we wanted to finish our final home dual," Carson coach Tyson Thivierge said. "A great showing like that. Everybody wrestlede really well."
Carson will have one final tuneup before next week's Northern 4A Championships as it will wrestle at a tournament in Marin County, Calif., on Saturday.
"Each match, each dual we get better and better," Thivierge said. "We're coming together at the right time. The guys are wrestling really well right now."
Among those who stood out on Wednesday was Schadeck, Thivierge said. "Max Schadeck was a surprise," Thivierge said.
"It was awesome to see from Max. That was a big win for Max. We're pretty happy to see that."
