Out of the 14 bouts, the Greenwave wrestling team picked up four pins and seven forfeits on way to a 66-12 win over Bishop Manogue, extending its league winning streak to 33 Wednesday night.
"We started a little flat again today," Fallon coach Mitch Overlie said. "I want us to come with a little more fire and have that glare in our eye. We're still on the process of getting down there (cutting weight). Everyone's trying to get down on their weights."
Fallon takes a break from competition in the High Desert League and will host the Earl Wilkens Tournament on Saturday at the Elmo Derrico Gym.
"We still aren't 100 percent. I just want to be there and wrestle the tough teams," Overlie said about the tournament. "I want us to get to the championship round with the varsity. It's going to be a fun tournament and we always want to win our own tournament. We're going to set that as a goal. I want to see good, consistent wrestling."
To fans, pins generally are the most impressive aspect to wrestling, but Overlie said pins have a disadvantage.
"We have to get out of that habit. If we lose I want it to go six minutes," Overlie said. "There is a disadvantage. We need to go full matches and need to know how that goes."
Tyler Reibsamen (145 pounds), Trent (140) and Trevor de Braga (152), and Lyle Gardner (285) each won by pinfall while Tyler Diaz (171) and Clint Riggins (215) lost by pinfall.
Diaz and Riggins both had leads before getting pinned in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Diaz led 6-1 in the second round before Nate Lytle pulled a reversal and trapped the Fallon grappler with his shoulder blades on the mat with one minute remaining in the round.
"I can't put my finger on him," Overlie said of Diaz. "He's been winning 90 percent of his matches. Sometimes they get in a funk."
Riggins led 2-0 after the first round before trailing by a point heading into the third round. Aiming to take down Steve Jenkins, Riggins tried to trip his opponent. Instead, he fell on his back and was pinned with 13 seconds left in the third round.
Except for Trent de Braga, the Greenwave pinned its opponents in the first round. Trent de Braga pinned Gary Albright with 22 seconds remaining in the second round.
Reibsamen cradled Jon Piller for a first-round pin with 42 seconds left, and Trevor de Braga pinned Brandon Turner with 23 seconds left. Lyle Gardner toyed with Tom Bouthillier before wining the heavyweight match with 13 seconds left.
"It's what I expected," Overlie said of the pins. "No one shocked me. I like to see the kids wrestle hard."
