Outlook: The Dragons would like to continue the improvement that started last season and exceed last year's results.
Dunfield (152 pounds) qualified for state during the first year of the program, and the team would like to qualify at least six wrestlers for the state meet this season.
FOOTHILL

Top wrestlers: Bobby McKinnis, Sr.; Joe Struzik, Sr.; Eric Diaz, Sr.
Outlook: Foothill is led by Diaz, who picked up 34 varsity wins last season.
McKinnis (29 wins) and Struzik (28 wins) also return from a team that went 24-15 in duals. The Falcons have several seniors on the team and expect to be strongest in the middle weights.
GREEN VALLEY

Outlook: The Gators will return Speroni, who finished third at the state meet in 2004, and Saldana, who was a state qualifier last season. The team will be young but seasoned. Ferry believes the Gators have "an opportunity to do something special this year."
LIBERTY

Outlook: The Patriots will be trying to improve during their third season of competition.
SILVERADO

Outlook: The Skyhawks should again be competitive, led by Jacobs, who was second at state at 215 last season and fourth at that weight during the previous season. Jacobs and Gettle are two of four seniors on the team, but they are the only two with varsity experience. The Skyhawks should be strong in the upper weights.
NORTHEAST DIVISION
CANYON SPRINGS

Outlook: The first-year Aggies, according to Bzoskie, are intent on building a strong program for 2006-07. Their goal for this season is to see improvement since the team has no seniors and few experienced wrestlers. Outlook: The Spartans are aiming for their fourth straight Class 4A state championship. Aleman and Morales both won state championships, and Suarez and St. Clair were state runner-ups last season.
"Practices are going great, but unless our younger kids come along there are plenty of teams that can knock us off," Garcia said. "Our goal is to win the state championship, and we'll be disappointed if we can't get it done."
MOJAVE
Coach: Bill Murray
Top wrestlers: DeAndre Taylor, So.; Colby Evans, So., David Jordan, So.; Reggie Powers, So.; Bill Stutzman, Jr.; Alan Berg, Sr.
Outlook: The Rattlers will be led by 119-pound state champion Taylor and state qualifiers Evans, Jordan and Powers. Four junior varsity zone champions also should help to strengthen the squad.
PALO VERDE

Top wrestlers: Glenn Terrano, So.; Chris Terrano, Sr.; Kyle Barrett, Jr.; Michael Educate, Jr.; Anthony Garcia, Sr.; Spencer Judd, Sr.; T.J. Chapel, Sr.; Cody Hopballe, Sr.; Justin Perdichizzi, Sr.
Outlook: Seven returning seniors should help the Panthers contend for regional and state titles. Glenn Terrano finished third at state at 103, while Chris Terrano was fourth at 125 and Educate placed fourth at 152. Barrett returns after winning a regional title at 140, and Judd and Garcia are back after finishing fourth in their region at 171 and 119, respectively.
The team had a busy offseason by competing in tournaments in Florida, Oregon and Reno.
"We are pretty optimistic, but it's a matter of getting kids in the right spots and jelling together," Davis said. "If we keep improving, we'll be where we need to be. We'll be solid all through our lineup."
SHADOW RIDGE
Coach: Jeff Hobbs
Top wrestlers: Stedson Lewis, Sr.; Danny Woodworth, Jr.; Jared Watkins, Jr.
